Summary
I am an English and Creative Writing graduate with a 1:1 honours degree from Coventry University, now looking for a challenging and proactive role as a Document Controller. My previous work experience has allowed me to specialise in developing organisational systems specifically for the construction industry, building on my work in administrative roles. I pride myself on communicating in a professional and credible manner, throughout all my written work and when interacting with colleagues. I consider myself very capable, with a high level of accuracy and consistency in all areas of my work. In addition to my written communication skills, my degree has prepared me with high-quality verbal ability. In the 'Effective Communication Techniques' and 'Language in Context' modules, I developed a more nuanced understanding of the effects body language, tone and language choice have on the ability to communicate my intentions clearly. I credit this part of my degree in particular with my capability to adapt my communication to meet the needs of others. I feel that my previous qualifications prove that I am also proficient in basic numeracy skills, as I have pursued mathematics qualifications to A Level.

  • This included document archiving, carrying out Data Quality Checks, as well as creating and issuing Work Package transmittals.
  • I was quickly able to adapt to previously unseen construction software, namely Four Projects and Datascope.
  • I consider myself to have been proactive in my role as Document Controller; pushing myself to learn more about the construction industry and take on more responsibilities in this position were my main priorities.
  • Alongside my day-to-day clerical and administrative duties (such as scheduling meetings, managing the site reception, greeting operatives and site guests), I routinely asked if I could assist on projects where I knew I could best utilize my writing skills.

  • This role saw me handling confidential financial information with appropriate discretion, making sure duplicate invoice tickets were disposed of.

  • Coventry | 14th June 2016- 14th July 2016 As a customer facing position, this role made me the employment service's first point of interaction with those seeking employment.
  • I primarily met new candidates, assessed the validity of their legal documentation and language skills, showed them how to fill out new agency contracts, and then processed their data to add it to a database.
  • Whether answering the phone or greeting those seeking employment face to face, I made sure I did so in a friendly manner, and aimed to answer their questions efficiently.
  • Often I would have to deal with members of the public who were disrespectful of or frustrated with the service's signing up process.
  • I dealt with difficult customers by remaining respectful and repeating the company's sign up procedure to resolve the situation.
