Work Experience

Religious Education Teacher at Cambridge Girls School 09/07 – present

  • Preparing students for GCSE and A Level qualifications in Religious Education, achieving a 95% record of grades A*-C throughout

  • Lesson planning: Making use of a range of media, debate exercises and excursions to stimulate interest and provoke philosophical and ethical thought. Excursions have included attending a talk by atheist Richard Dawkins and visiting a variety of places of worship

  • Behaviour management strategies: instead of detentions I opt for the time to be dedicated to helping out with local charities after school under my supervision. I believe this is a more efficient use of time, and teaches the children respect and consideration for those less fortunate

  • Additional responsibilities: Form tutor – general admin (attendance, general oversight, parent/teacher evenings, and liaising with members of staff on pupil progress)

I am extremely passionate about my work – I feel that my teaching methods are modern and relevant to children today. The feedback I have received from pupils and their parents has always been positive. I hope to mirror this in future roles.

 Personal Interests

  • Volunteer at the Salvation Army two nights a week, preparing food and drink for the homeless, and acting as a mentor to regulars who are looking to make positive changes in their lives

  • Work on my local church committee – coming up with fun ideas to get the community involved with charity work, services and events

  • Keen runner and last year completed the London marathon to raise money for the Salvation Army
