Provided 24hr on call sea rescue service with the RNLI based at Ramsgate's royal harbour.   General roles included:   The rescue and safe passage of stranded vessels or persons at sea and along the coastline;   The removal of harmful materials affecting local waterways;   Informing the general public and  seaman of the dangers at sea and provided general navigational guidance;   Regular training on various rescue and sea survival techniques;   Provided crew assistance for both all weather lifeboat and inshore lifeboat;   General maintenance of the all weather lifeboat, inshore lifeboat, boathouse and safety equiptment.
