Date Of Birth: 30/03/1993
I would describe myself as a loyal, hard working individual, who is very easy to get along with, and I am always very keen to learn new skills and undertake new tasks, and I see myself as a team player, and a motivator who is a good time keeper, and I am very willing to work overtime.
I have previous experience in the salmon farming industry, in the period of 2010 to 2011 I worked for Scottish Seafarms on the sites around the south end of Burra, maintaining the welfare, and wellbeing of the fish, by monitoring feed cycles, completing routine maintanence on the nets, and cages, as well as lice counts and health checks. I have always had a nautical background, so to speak... From a very young age I have always held a massive interest in fishing, always soaking up as much knowledge about all things to do with sea life as I possibly could, and due to this I have a good base knowledge about Salmon in particular. During my years at Scalloway Junior High School I also completed a Scottish Progression Award for Aquaculture, through the North Atlantic Fisheries College.
As a team member for Pets at Home, my daily tasks involved cleaning out small animal cages, watering, and feeding, health checks and general enclosure maintanence for various small furry animals, from Rabbits, to hamsters, cleaning, and maintanence/health checks on Reptiles, and maintaining water quality and general husbandry of various different fish tanks. Through-out the day, general duties once the animals were seen to were putting out stock, whilst serving and providing great customer service, tending cash and also general cleaning duties. I progressed from a team member, to become a qualified keyholder for the store, becoming a duty manager, where my duties involved the opening and closing of the store, delegating jobs, dealing with customer queries and complaints, and also cashing up tills, and completing banking. I also managed a small team of nightshift workers which focused on putting out stock. During my time with Pets at Home I also completed a Modern Apprenticeship in Level 2 Retail, through Robson LTD.
My duties as a Marine Fish Husbandryman for Scottish Seafarms included the maintanence and routine checks of feeding systems, monitoring the general health of all of the fish on site, ensuring adequate treatments are applied when necessary, ensuring accurate records are being kept of stocks, ensuring that all legislation is being followed and understood, and general site maintanence on ropes, cages, and carrying out daily tasks such as lice checks, removing deceased fish, and also tasks such as net cleaning, and also maintanence on the barge, and the cameras.
My Responsibilities at Tulloch Developments as an Apprentice Civil Engineer included working both in construction sites, and public places such as roads/streets, doing a range of different tasks, including laying drainage, laying pavements, excavating holes, repairing road surfaces, and also carrying out general maintanence, including repairs to Cranes, Trucks and other machinery.
I spend as much of my spare time as possible out fishing, whether it be in the boat, on the rocks, at the pier or in a loch! Ever since the age of 8 years old I have been utterly and completely obsessed with all things to do with fish!
Another hobby of mine is also keeping Reptiles, in particular large pythons. I currently own three pythons, one of which is approximately 13 foot long, as pets I find them utterly fascinating and thoroughly enjoy keeping them as pets. I also play the drums, and guitar from time to time.
