This course has taken me through the fundamentals of petroleum engineering and it's industrial application.
I have covered the following topics:
I worked as a Sales Assistant; working on the shop floor, assisting customers for items they need in the stock room, helping arrange the items in order and making them look presentable. Customer service and satisfaction was key in this role. I had to ensure that customers were completely satisfied with their purchase and providing the best service I possibly could. It was an exhilarating experience, gaining vast experience in a fast-paced retail environment.
I worked for VIBES Events and Promotions as a hostess in summer 2013.
I took part in various events during summer as a hostess, ensuring guests are welcomed and satisfied. During a red bull event, I had to ensure that the guests were welcomed and shown to their seats. I had to converse with the guests invited to the event and ensure they are enjoying themselves and are satisfied. As a hostess, I had to be comfortable with greeting and entertaining people and have a high knowledge of customer satisfaction.
This experience has given me useful insights into how marketing and sales works in a large business. I held various responsibilities, and was expected to produce high-quality work. I learnt about teamwork, and how to cooperate effectively with my colleagues to achieve a common goal.
I was given the task to look into cost measures and inventory control.
I prepared a matrix for them which turned out to be a catalyst of their future growth.
I was also taught how to handle the company's accounts. I worked with several departments in the company, shadowing each department manager, and trained with the sales team.
By the end of this experience, I gained interpersonal and diagnostic skills, and the ideas behind running a successful department.
I have also been a volunteer at British Heart Foundation, for 5 months, in a charity shop. I believe in helping others and giving back to the community. Working in a charity shop had given me retail experience.
I also gained a silver certificate during this job, in World Wide Volunteering.
