Accomplishments
- Modelling natural convection heat transfer process using CFD: In this project, the heat transfer due to natural convection is modelled in ANSYS CFX, and the experimental results are compared with the numerical results.
- Pressure vessel design using composite materials: Abaqus is used to numerically iterate a proposed pressure vessel laminate configuration, which is obtained from an Excel sheet.
- The designed Excel sheet incorporated the classical lamination theory, and provides theoretical factors of safety for given configuration of the laminate composite.
- Hand operated cutting press design: This was a supervised mini project, where 3 concepts of the press were generated from market research.
- These 3 concepts were modelled on Solid Edge V20 (CAD), and Algor (FEA) was used to optimized and compare these concepts.
- The best concept was developed until it met the specifications.
- Design of the steering system for formula student car: This was a group project aimed at designing a (theoretical) Formula Student car.
- I was responsible for the design of the steering system for the car.
- I designed the components and optimized them using Algor (FEA).
- Furthermore, I selected appropriate materials for each component.

- Simulated low velocity impact on a laminate composites in Abaqus Explicit (FEA).
- Investigated the effect of stacking sequence on the damage tolerance of laminated composites.
