Summary
I consider myself to be an open, honest, hardworking, responsible, friendly and outgoing person willing to take on any challenge. My previous work experience volunteering at National Trust properties, charity outlets, archaeological excavations and post-excavation. This experience helped me develop strong people skills and provided me with the expertise to multi-task, solve problems, public speaking, leadership skills, handling money and working under pressure. I have developed an enjoyment for the researching and recording of historical events and artefacts and hope my passion for subject shows in my willingness and eagerness to adapt and learn new skills which I hope to take forward as a career.

Bachelor of Arts degree: Archaeology and Ancient History Cardiff University Archaeology and Ancient History While studying at university I have been given opportunities to hone my skills, including communication, I.T, literacy and time management. An introduction to archaeological illustration techniques as part of post-excavation project this year has inspired me to look for other opportunities to further develop and widen these skills.
Interests
For my final year dissertation I examined the Euripidean play 'Trojan Women' for evidence of an 'anti-war' attitude towards 5th century events such as the Capture of Melos.* Interests In my spare time I enjoy reading, video games, movies and hiking (was a keen member of the Cardiff Ramblers Society while studying).

Volunteer Archivist, 01/2015 to Current Whitchurch Heritage Centre - Whitchurch, Shropshire
  • Working in a team: Community Outreach Heritage Project': Which was a student run project that had the backing of Cardiff City Council.
  • It involved interacting with the public while helping them actively and creatively learn the history surrounding Cardiff Bay Working individually: I am a keen supporter of Cancer Research UK and have completed several 5 and 10 kilometre Race For Life, Manchester 10K Run and Sports Relief runs.

  • Manchester Metropolitan University Archaeological Unit Poulton, Cheshire Archaeological Dig Student Volunteer While working alongside Dr Ben Edwards and Dr Seren Griffiths, (MMU Archaeological Unit), site supervisors, I was encouraged to improved my leadership skills while helping fellow students, most of which were on their first dig.
01/2014 to 01/2014 Cardiff University Cardiff
  • Student Volunteer - Post-Excavation During the summer I had an opportunity to work alongside Mr Ian Dennis (Archaeological Illustrator) and Mrs Kirsty Harding (Graphic Designer & Digital Archaeological Illustrator).
  • During this time I furthered my skills in I.T and gained a passion for post excavation work and archiving.
  • I catalogued and identified small finds and lithics from a dig carried out between the summer seasons of 1997-2000.
  • I also learned a new skill using the program Adobe Illustrator cs6, where I digitalised plans and drawings from the dig.
  • I was also invited to continue working on the project after the mandatory days to help complete the full set of illustrations.
Student Volunteer, 01/2013 to 09/2013 Cambridge University - Yeovil, Somerset
  • The Ham Hill project was a joint Cardiff and Cambridge university project.
  • During my time at Ham Hill I was given opportunity to gain experience in various disciplines such as; planning and execution of technical archaeological drawings, excavation of features (large and small), carried out tours of the site, washing and cleaning of the Iron Age finds from the site, and environmental work.
  • I also worked alongside Mr Robert Barratt learning how to use equipment for 3D imagery.
  • I returned to the site in September where I continued to wash and handle finds.
Waitress, 01/2011 to 08/2012 Crewe Hall, Q Hotels - Crewe, Cheshire
  • I worked as part of the busy brassiere team in 17th century country house hotel.
  • During this time I enhanced both my communication and phone skills, as well as developing high level of service needed for the hotels clientele.
  • In addition to developing these skills, my position allowed me to gain access to some of the most historic parts of the house.
  • Particullary the service areas, built in the 1600's, which remained largely unchanged since their original construction.
  • This fuelled my interest in the architecture of the Jacobean mansion and allowed me to provide additional information to inquisitive guests asking about the hotel's expansive history.
Volunteer Room Guide, 04/2012 to 09/2012 National Trust Little Moreton Hall
  • I worked as a volunteer room guide in the 16th century, Long Gallery and its side room for a season.
  • I found the work challenging but exciting and inspirational.
  • I adapted to the role quickly and proficiently earning a solo guide position soon after starting.
  • Other roles I filled while working at the hall was as a steward during a Shakespearean play, attending to and guiding the public around the grounds of the house and ensuring their comfort and safety during the performance.
